Paul commands us to intercede on behalf of all people, and makes special mention for kings and those in authority. Crossroads Community Church makes special effort to pray for our government and our elected officials – not to seek what we want to see in politics, but to seek God’s will for this country and for what he would have us do in these uncertain times. We find it appropriate, therefore, to take inspiration from a relic in our nation’s history.
By order of the commander in chief, George Washington ordered that a flag be flown during the Revolutionary War symbolizing peace and liberty. It featured a solitary pine tree with the motto “An Appeal to Heaven“. As Washington said in a letter in 1778, it is in our struggles as believers that we should look to God the most.
We meet every week to pray and seek God’s will for individual needs, our church, community, and government. Come join us in the fellowship hall for a time of intercession as we make our Appeals to Heaven, because
can stand before men.
